Driftlight transforms reclaimed driftwood into a sculptural form that appears to have grown rather than been assembled. Twisting branches rise and intertwine, supporting cast iron candle holders that introduce warmth and light to the weathered timber.
Shaped by years of exposure to the sea, the driftwood retains the marks of wind, salt and time. Rather than disguising these natural processes, the work celebrates them, allowing the material's history to remain visible.
Standing at 1.8 metres tall, Driftlight occupies the space between sculpture and functional object. When illuminated, the candlelight brings the structure to life, casting shifting shadows that become an integral part of the work itself.
